COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course explores the relationship between dress and humanity. Discussions of history as it relates to dress, dress and culture, and the influence dress has in today's society are investigated. The course is divided into five sections that connects the learning experience to research conducted in the field of dress, humanity, and culture. Assessments reinforce the content and connect to the five sections of the course:
(1) Why Study Dress?
(2) Physical Appearance, Environment and Dress
(3) Fashion in Dress
(4) Sociocultural Systems of World Culture and Dress
(5) Art, Asthetics and Dress
