A Form of Implicit Bias

Today’s society is much different than what it used to be, which can be positive in some aspects but negative in others. One thing that has lasted throughout time is the sexualizing of women. In recent times, it has gotten much worse. One example of women being sexualized is in music today, especially of the rap genre. Many rappers’ songs will have at least one aspect of a sexualized woman. In some songs, the ideal body of a woman is rapped about, how the rapper could take advantage of a woman, or what the woman could do for the man. This type of music normalizes these actions and make people think it is appropriate to treat people in this disrespectful way. Rap is not the only genre that uses women to make their music, other genres include these messages in their music also.
