Masked People
Marty Rubin said, “Behind every mask there is a face, and behind that is a story.” Makeup, clothing, a smile, social media, masked people. Every day we wake up and put our masks own, physically and mentally masked people. As humans we tend to wear and show the story that we want others to see, masked people. Are deepest emotions not on our face, but beneath the masked people. We pass through the day with no thought of the story they have to tell, masked people. The mask they hide behind, their very own face, in their very own skin, masked people.
In the picture a girl is holding a ripped up piece of thrown away card board. The piece of cardboard has a woman’s face full of pain, agony, regret, insecurity, capturing and displaying the emotions of a victim. Some may be surprised to know that the piece of card board, is not the ‘mask’. The mask is the smiling face behind the card board, the story that lies beneath the mask. Beneath the smiles, she has a story to tell. Walking amongst a crowd of people, she looks just like you and me. But just like you and me, we all have a different story. We are masked people.
Sexual assault is one of the many things hidden on a daily basis. Help take off the mask. Love everyone for their pains, their strengths, their weaknesses, their struggles, for who they are. #SAAM
