Let's All Stand Up

Many of the ways in which we have talked about helping in preventing sexual assault is by how we can help prevent it from happening to someone else or about how to help someone who it has happened too. These are all great tools and ways to stand up for the cause. I have learned many new things this semester about this subject and to be honest I really didn’t think I would learn about this. Helping take stand up for the cause by being part of the I Will campaign, being a good friend, listening, learning how to talk to someone that has had something happen to them, where to go for help, rethinking how I treat and act with other people. These are but a few of the wonderful things I have learned to help stand up for the cause.

One thing that I think we haven’t really talked about how to protect ourselves. Me as a man I never think that something could happen to me to be honest, but something like this could really happen to me. What can I do to prevent and help stop something from happening to me? Protect myself, think before I do. Be aware of the situations I am in, pay attention to my feelings, learn self-defense, have my concealed weapon on me, is drinking a good idea at this time? These are but a few of the ways I can protect myself from sexual assault and I suggest that we all do this on top of learning how to help others and what to do if such things happen.
