Don't Just Say It, Wear It

The following picture is of the teal ribbons we received in class for sexual assault awareness month. After I participated in the “Don’t just Say it, Wear it” Tuesday challenge I realized how significant this ribbon was. If I was a victim of sexual assault and I saw all these people around campus with those teal ribbons I would probably start crying out of happiness for the support from my fellow students. I would feel safe and unified with the campus. At first when we got the ribbons to support the survivors of sexual assault I had a bad attitude about having to wear something as inconvenient as a ribbon. That’s when it hit me. It’s no inconvenience to wear something so simple to show your love and support for those survivors. We should show those survivors that they should not be ashamed of what happened to them. We should show them that we will be there supporting them every step of the way. This picture shows the ribbon on a backpack shinning bright just as our support for sexual assault survivors should be. Shinning bright for everyone to see.
