Untold
I found this quote online and it got me thinking about how many people stay silent about things that have happened to them. As I've been learning more about sexual assault, what has surprised me the most is how little support some victims receive as they tell their story. Often times, no one even believes them. This makes me sad. It's because of experiences like this, that more and more people are scared to talk about their own experiences. Just imagine how hard it would be to carry something so heavy, and have no one to talk about it with. You certainly wouldn't heal, not completely anyway. So let's help those who need to talk. Be a friend, be a listening ear, be compassionate. Don't let anyone feel like his or her feelings aren't valid. Be a part of the healing process. And more importantly, if you need to talk, don't be afraid.
